Our Story

Our Story

The Farmhouse at The Grand Colonial is close to the City, but seems a world away. Established in 1685, this historic, one-of-a-kind homestead is nestled on over 10 acres in the rolling hills of Hunterdon County New Jersey, among towering trees and lush gardens. With its original, exposed beams and hand-hewn stonework, The Farmhouse is a unique setting for your customized social or corporate event, and an inspired meal in a relaxing, unhurried environment.

Our catering and à la carte restaurant facilities embrace farm to table menus featuring the freshest, locally sourced and foraged ingredients, complemented by handcrafted cocktails, revolving wine vintages and craft beers. Award-winning Chef Christine Ayers and her team blend global fare with seasonally focused menus and impeccable hospitality. Farm-fresh ingredients from our own “Back Forty” vegetable garden and local farms unite in dishes influenced by cuisines from around the world.

Whether for your wedding, meeting, banquet, special occasion or private dinner, join us for artisanal dining experiences in authentically historic rooms and al fresco settings. Our team will create the custom atmosphere you desire for your event — from rustic-chic to refined casual to formal — focused on the highest quality cuisine and world-class service at every touch point.
