Our harvests from the Farmhouse’s “Back Forty” Garden enable our Restaurant to serve the finest Farm to Table cuisine, including all the best vegetables that summer has to offer, including:
vegetables: tomatoes, summer squash, cucumbers, eggplant, lettuces, yellow, green and purple string beans, and from our satellite property, corn,
herbs: thyme, cilantro, basil, rosemary, marjoram, oregano, sage and lemon verbena.
We pride ourselves on our creative recipes that embrace these harvests. Many of our customers ask for our recipes, and from time to time Chef Christine will post them in her “Chef’s Corner.”
This year, Chef Christine is “turning the tables”, and challenging our customers to come up with a recipe that includes at least four of the vegetables and at least one of the herbs listed above. Include any other ingredients you like.
Initially the contest called for entrants to submit their recipes by the end of July, however, many have asked for one more week, and Chef Christine has graciously agreed. (After all, the tomatoes in the Back Forty need another week to ripen!)
Thus, after all the recipes are evaluated and test runs completed, Chef Christine will announce the winner at the end of the second week in August and name the dish after the winner. The winning recipe will be listed on The Farmhouse’s menus, and be served in the Restaurant through the end of August (and maybe longer, depending on the harvest season).
The Farmhouse will treat the Summer Recipe Contest winner and a guest to celebrate with dinner for two during August in our Restaurant, to include the dish bearing the winner’s name.
Send your entries to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Raise your forks, get set, GO!!
No purchase necessary. Chef Christine’s decision is final. Dinner does not include alcoholic beverages, taxes or tip.
